๐Ÿ“Š Customer analytics software helps businesses collect and analyze user data to improve digital products and understand customer behavior.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Different tools offer features such as session recording, heatmaps, and customer segmentation to track interactions and find areas for improvement.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Budget-friendly choices are available, with many tools providing free plans or trials, such as UXtweakโ€™s free option for small projects.

๐Ÿงฉ Picking the right tool depends on features, ease of use, integrations, and pricing to match business needs.

โœ… Using reliable platforms helps businesses make informed decisions and improve customer experience while increasing revenue.

What is customer analytics software?

Customer analytics platforms collect and analyze customer data to provide useful information about behavior, preferences, and trends. They use data from purchase history, website behavior, social media, and customer feedback.

These tools help businesses improve customer experiences, increase ROI, and reduce risks by focusing on high-value customers and optimizing the user journey.

Some well-known examples include tools like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, UXtweak, and Adobe Analytics. They track user actions, measure engagement, and provide insights to improve digital products.

Why is customer analytics important?

Customer analysis helps identify patterns and trends, allowing businesses to improve user experiences, address pain points, and personalize interactions. By acting on these insights, businesses can boost engagement, increase customer satisfaction, and drive revenue growth.

A major e-commerce site increased its annual revenue by $300 million by changing a โ€œRegisterโ€ button to a โ€œContinueโ€ button during checkout, allowing users to buy without creating an account. This simple change reduced frustration for both new and repeat customers, leading to a 45% increase in completed purchasesand significantly boosting sales.

User Reviews & Ratings

UXtweak has an overall score of 4.7 out of 5 on G2, a platform known for collecting independent user reviews.

Pros

๐Ÿ‘Œ I love how easy and quick it is to set up the tests. To import the prototype from Figma you just need a link. It imports all your transitions directly from Figma or you can choose to connect the screens manually during setup.

The analytics are great, you can easily filter out specific respondent groups, based on different criteria, and analyze results for each of them. I like that you can get a great amount of qual and quant insights without having to spend hours on the manual analysis.

๐Ÿ‘Œ The funnels feature is best. And also I like the user pathfinder feature the most. It helps me understand the actual user journey and other alternatives that users were taking that were not anticipated or intended by us.

๐Ÿ‘ŽThere was no option to create a custom event on the funnel( or chart section itself). We have to go to govern section everytime to create a custom event. Also, I wish amplitude has provided a bare minimum capabilities to create table like summary.

๐Ÿ‘ŒMixpanel is a really good tool if you want to know user specific interaction or know overall event specific interaction. We are able to use it for AB testing by creating specific reports based on the events, clicks, pages we are testing.

๐Ÿ‘ŽThere is not a way to see the most common path users are taking to a specific event. There have been several time where we wanted to know what people were doing before an error occurred and we could not get that information.

Cons

  • Limitations in heatmap visualizations

๐Ÿ‘Œ Crazy Egg has the possibility to be such a powerful tool. It’s very easy to add the javascript snippet and to export results. One thing I love is that Crazy Egg allows you to download snapshot results in a convenient zip folder, with different files laid out.ย

๐Ÿ‘ŽThe interface is rough. ROUGH. Their menu options are hidden and often times you are left wondering “OK, now what do I do?”ย

This is critical for us as a SaaS company that releases new features frequently; we need the ability to inform our customers of changes quickly, and doing this in our platform through Userpilot allows us to reach the right audience, at the right time, in the right place.

๐Ÿ‘ŽReporting could be better. Some of the analytics in some areas are not as detailed as we would like, such as viewing results per customer segment in NPS reports.

๐Ÿ‘Œ The concept and walkthrough of the product is 8/10 stars. The analytics you could derive from this product could be very valuable to anyone designing a website

๐Ÿ‘ŽIt is hard to get into. I view this product as one that very few people use as “power users” while others stay away and just ask questions. It also has a decent number of bugs, even the sales rep ran into several of them

๐Ÿ‘Œ Click maps are extremely useful, enabled me to remove things from pages that were slowing us down. Funnels an excellent option, can see where we lose people on journeys.

๐Ÿ‘Ž Training helps but it’s not easy, easy to use. I don’t have the time to invest to really get myself up to speed so maybe dont get as much value out of it as I could. Small complaint though as probably just me.

  • Has a great UI and the implementation is a breeze
  • Ability to speak directly with customers via in-app chat
  • Ability to annotate screenshots and take videos of issues in the app to attach to bug reports
  • Bug reports and feedback are easy to analyze
  • Great for performance testing as well as website monitoring

Cons

  • Updates occur too frequently
  • Does not give a live view of how the user got the crash

๐Ÿ‘Œ It keeps my developers happy as they get the metadata they need; it can naturally capture screenshots of what was happening in the app before the ticket was submitted is a nice bonus. I also like having multiple environments for our various applications.

๐Ÿ‘ŽI want to be able to utilize canned responses and have a better mobile experience. I frequently have to respond to support requests while I am away from my computer, and instabug does not have a great experience for that at our pricing tier.

Pros

  • A cost-effective tool that can improve your customer journey flow of active users
  • Ability to figure out where engagement is minimal with actual data points
  • Has a great automatic tagging feature that helps you track activities in playback
  • Has a very detailed session recording feature that helps with well-detailed research report data
  • Provides insights into customer preferences in the app

Cons

  • Limitations in detailed event analytics
  • Mouse clicks are not preserved when videos are downloaded and shared in teams

๐Ÿ‘Œ The fact that it allows us to analyze our app and have an account manager very close to us.

๐Ÿ‘Ž The main difficulty is popularizing and scaling its use. This is primarily because we still have flaws in the tagging of our products. That way, we have a lot of trouble in finding the screens and events we need.

  • Offers an easy-to-use and complete feature set for customer support and external documentation

Cons

๐Ÿ‘Œ I like the fact that we can share the inbox with other reps and we can see and share answers and customers. I also like the fact that we can build in automations and answers in the messaging center.

๐Ÿ‘Ž I would say the thing I disliked the most was the cost. It was to high of a price for our small organization.

  • Ability to log into multiple accounts at once
  • It is flexible and adaptable to various industries and business models

  • Has a great customer service team

Cons

  • Difficulty to troubleshoot without contacting support when an error is encountered

๐Ÿ‘Œ If you are a small business, this will provide you enough information that you will be able to directionally understand traffic on your site.

๐Ÿ‘Ž For a data and algorithm based company, Google does a terrible, terrible job of estimating reality out of the sampling they do. When we switched to an enterprise web analytics solution that does no sampling, we found that Google Analytics was telling us we had twice as much traffic as we actually do.ย
